camera

For a few days I wanted to know how my grandmother used to look like when she was young.
Now that she is not with us any more there is an even more depressing desire.
I remember how my mom used to look when I was young. I remember how my Dad,my brother and my sister looked when I was young. But I don't have them on paper. there's no evidence.

I don't know how my Dad and Mom used to look when they were young.

The evidences of our years, the photos mostly passport sized and taken for APSRTC's bus pass.

The search of my parents for my face after the yearly pics in school with the headmaster and teachers. And the one year when my family couldn't find me amongst my 60 classmates only 'coz I smiled this time.

A time when there was a line of girls who went gaga over my brother.

Finally I got a camera. my own camera. Now my brothers kids, my sisters kids will always have proofs of how we looked like and how they were when they were kids.

Sure we'll all be buried or burned someday and no one would give a damn about how we looked. But if the kids ever wanted to know then they'll always have the pics from my DSLR. Yes I could finally afford to buy a DSLR camera for 32000 rupees.

Passion

We mostly know what corruption is. But what made it flourish?? Why do people tend to be corrupt? Is it our disbelief in values? Is it in our inner voice that sometimes questions the values of honesty and integrity that have been set by very few of our predecessors.

How many times have we heard of a man who always wanted to be an MRO or a clerk at a government office. People don't aspire to be in those positions. They don't have passions which can be pursued by joining the jobs. I haven't heard of a man who when he was a child dreamt of moving papers from one desk to another or creating the best of work environments and be the best 'peon' ever.

No wonder many peons and other guys and corrupt. They need a reason to pursue the job besides the usual salary.

No matter what one says, no one can do a job just for what they are paid. Theres always the need for a little extra. The 'little extra' means differently to each person.

Check out the interviews of actors or phtographers or anyone who picked a profession out of their passions.

The questions would usually be:

"What drives you??"

"When did you get your calling??"

"What would you advice to future generation of actors/photographers/musicians etc.,"

Now imagine asking your GHMC kachcara guy these questions.

To him all he is concerned about is making his ends meet. and a little extra (this could be smoking or drinking or another wife)
